We are seeking a warm, experienced, and values-driven Nursery Manager to lead our brand-new setting. This is a unique opportunity to shape the culture, provision, and everyday experiences of our children and team from the very beginning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire nursery staff to deliver high-quality, nurturing childcare

  • Support practitioners through coaching, open communication, and regular supervision

  • Develop child-led, play-based routines and activities suitable for all age groups

  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety standards, Ofsted requirements, and nursery policies

  • Foster a warm, inclusive environment that supports children’s well-being, development, and curiosity

  • Manage administrative tasks including enrolment, record keeping, parent partnerships, and policy implementation

  • Organise staff rotas, coordinate training opportunities, and conduct performance reviews

  • Oversee budgeting and funded childcare management

  • Ensure indoor and outdoor spaces are well-maintained, calming, and thoughtfully resourced

  • Drive continuous improvement by reflecting on practice and implementing positive changes

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Level 3 or above Early Years qualification (required)

  • Minimum 2 years’ management experience within an Early Years setting

  • Strong understanding of EYFS, child development, safeguarding, and Ofsted frameworks

  • Confident in managing budgets, staffing, and funded childcare allocations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to nurture a positive, collaborative team culture

  • Valid driving licence (desirable but not essential)

Job Description for Nursery Practitioner

To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children place in the setting.

To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn.

Main Purpose and Activities:

  • To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the nursery are met (in conjunction with other team members).

  • To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.

  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

  • To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.

  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.

  • To advise manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.

  • To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, etc

  • To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.

  • To work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the nursery’s philosophy and ethos are fulfilled.

  • To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the nursery.

  • To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person

  • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.

  • To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.

  • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
