Nursery Manager

Hours: Full-time (40 hours on a shift basis 7.30am – 6.00pm
)Salary: Negotiable dependant upon experience, up to £32,000
Tiny Toez are looking for an enthusiastic, and experienced childcare manager to manage the day to day running of the setting, and lead our team of practitioners to provide high quality childcare.
The setting is a well established setting, recently inspected by Ofsted and given a GOOD judgement in all areas.
The nursery has a newly resourced environment and is supported by the company Operational Manager, local authority and outside consultants to ensure that the children are given the best opportunities.
You will be leading a dedicated team of passionate, and skilled practitioners who are dedicated to care for the children, have strong bonds, and excellent parent partnerships. The right candidate will need to have at least two years experience in an early years setting in a managerial role and hold a level 3 or above full and relevant qualification.

Purpose of Post

3. The day to day management of childcare provision in terms of marketing and administration
Responsible To: Operational Manager (Or Director in absence of Operational Manager)
Duties and Responsibilities
1. To be responsible for providing a high standard of quality care and education.
2. To be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures.
3. To take part in the development and review of policies and procedures within the childcare provision.
4. Sufficient knowledge of health and safety, and risk assessments.
5. Supervising and supporting all personnel within the nursery including induction, appraisal training and development, individual supervision and discipline, and staff meetings.
6. To be a member of the Senior Management Team and contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation of the nursery.
7. To be responsible for admissions to the childcare provision.
8. To liaise with the Local Authority and other professional organisations associated with the nursery.
9. To oversee the efficient upkeep of the childcare rooms and maintenance including equipment inventories, furnishings and fittings.
10. To be responsible of the administrative duties associated with the management e.g. maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment, maintaining inventory and personnel records.
11. To oversee the payment of fees, ensuring fees are paid on time.
12. To oversee the ordering of consumable items e.g. food, wipes, craft materials etc.
13. To co-ordinate with appropriate agencies regarding trainee placements, supervising accordingly.
14. To establish and maintain effective communication links with local agencies.
15. To market and advertise the provision as necessary to ensure the nursery runs to full capacity
16. To work in partnership with parents.
17. Knowledge of relevant administrative computer packages and general IT performance is essential.
18. Work towards any appropriate Quality Awards for the nursery.
19. To be responsible for advertising and recruiting staff to fill vacancies, with prior authorisation from the Director.
SUPERVISION / MANAGEMENT OF PEOPLE To supervise, delegate and monitor the quality and quantity of the work of the childcare and ancillary staff.
CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION The post holder will have to be creative in dealing with all queries and complaints about the service delivered. Creativity will be required in the design of forms used in the administration of the nursery and for collating of management information and preparation of reports/correspondence. The post holder will have a key strategic role in the delivery of the childcare provision and will be required in devising, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures with an informed understanding of statutory requirements in best practice for children. The post holder will be required to ensure the day care provision is running at full capacity and will therefore need to be creative in the marketing and publicity of the provision. The post holder will be the first contact for all issues relating to the childcare provision.
DECISIONS The post holder will work closely with the members of the Senior Management Team. Information and guidance will be readily available about Local Authority policies and procedures. However, the post holder must work autonomously in relation to the day to day management of the childcare provision. The role requires the confidence to make day to day decisions thoughtfully and with regard to best practice in childcare.
RESOURCES The post holder will have full responsibility for the planning of the childcare provision and for the use of resources. It will be the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that the nursery is clean, safe, well equipped and welcoming for children, families and staff. The post holder will be an authorised signatory for orders to an agreed level of delegation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The post holder will need to demonstrate effective time and resource management to meet the needs of children and families. The post holder will need to manage a planned routine whilst retaining flexibility to meet the needs of the children in the nursery. The post holder will be expected to lift and handle play equipment and other resources and to be involved in the day to day practical activities and physical care of children. You may occasionally be required to deal with emergencies outside of normal working hours to ensure the up keep and safety of the building. The post holder is expected to attend relevant training to keep abreast of current legislation and best practice, attend meetings outside the nursery and occasionally attend regional or national conferences appropriate to the provision.
